This is a class for those who are thinking about purchasing their first horse or who would like to
learn everything about horses.  This class is formatted for young adults and adults offering
everything from the basics of what a horse needs to survive to the more complicated medical
care.   The class includes a hand book and work sheets.  Long pants, boots with a heel and
helmets are required while working with the horses.  We do have helmets to loan out and even
some boots. Even though we only ride during one class session we will be working with the
horses during every session and  boots are still recommended.

To enroll in the class, please fill out the form below.  A $50 deposit will be
required to hold a spot.  You may also call and make an appointment to look
around the facility and fill out the release form and leave a deposit.  If you'd
like to mail the deposit please make a check out to Karen Davis and mail it
to the address at the bottom of the page.

Breeds and their characteristics, colors and markings, needs and nature of the
horse.

Day 2
Different riding disciplines and tack. Fitting saddles and how to tell what type
you need for your horse.

Day 3 Nutrition, feeds, and medical conditions resulting from nutrition and
feeds. Teeth, growth and care.

Day 4  Equine facilities, traveling, management, winterizing, preparing for
summer.

Day 5  First aid, disease control and conformation.

Day 6 Review what we have learned, basics of balanced riding English and
Western. (this is the day we ride)
The fallowing is the class outline.  It is subject to change depending on
what the students require.  The day we ride may change based on
weather.  If one of the six Saturdays is scheduled to be a nice warm day
we may ride that day instead.  Most of the class sessions will be held in
our heated class room, but we will venture out to work with the horses in
the barn, round pen, cross tie area, and arena.  Please call if you have

If you are planning on buying a horse we recommend taking the horse
buying class.  If you enroll in both classes there is a discount.  The
horse buying class starts the very next Saturday February 19th.
