2010 Play Day Series
Rules for 2011 (all rules are subject to
change by me, Karen, at any time)

Only clients of the riding school are able to
participate in the play day.

Riders must have proper attire on (boots,
shirt, pants, no shorts) helmets are required.

Riders under the age of 18 must have an
adult present. No drop offs.

Students that are competing must be
learning about barrel racing and pole
bending in their lessons, even if they are
just learning the patterns.

To receive awards at the end of the year
banquet you have to be current clients of
the riding school and have paid at least one
entry fee in either a horse show or play day.

There is absolutely no
cantering if Karen does not
approve you first.
Play Day $3 Per Class
Barrels

Flags
Optional
It's not over until the last barrel is cleared.

A play day is similar to a horse show but it's primarily a competition with
speed events.  While watching the lessons you probably have heard terms
such as: Birangle, Skill Barrels, Poles, Keyhole etc. These are the names of
the patterns for the speed events.  Barrels, Poles and Flags are the three
main events.

Optional refers to the last class and it can be any of the patterns we have
been learning in the lessons (Birangle, Skill Barrels, Speed Barrels, In Line
Barrels, Keyhole etc.)  Usually you won't know what the optional pattern will
be until the day of the play day.  It kind of makes it a surprise.

Exhibition is a practice run, it doesn't count for the actual play day points,
it's just a practice run.  Due to the limited amount of horses each student
may do one exhibition run.  It's not required but if they are nervous they
should do an exhibition run to boost their confidence.

Lazy D Play Day our play days are referred to as a competition but at this
point the students aren't actually competing against each other.  We base all
of our riding programs on education so the play days we hold at the riding
school give them the feeling of competing with out the stress of having to
best another student.

Awards just like a regular play day series we have an annual awards
banquet.  All of the entry fees you spend on your child go into
their awards
and the end of the year banquet.  I will decide what the awards will be and I
base them on how they have progressed during the play day series as well
as in their lessons.  Only current clients of the riding school will receive
awards at the banquet.

Who Can Compete any student that is currently working on how to barrel
race and pole bend can compete at the play days.  Even students just
learning the patterns can compete.  Some students will be walking, some
trotting, a combination of both trotting and walking, cantering and trotting and
one or two may be going full speed.

Our Goal balance and control over the horse and our body is more
important than going fast.  Speed comes naturally after everything else.
