At the Lazy "D" we provide a safe and enjoyable riding experience, and we want your visit to be a memorable one. We take great pride in our clean and safe facility. As you step through the gate we hope you notice that our entire facility is enclosed and surrounded with tight, clean fencing. We have a 60' round pen which works out great for the first time and beginner riders. Guests are asked to stay in our designated viewing areas known as our "Safe Zones" where they will have a full view of the round pen, the arena and the cross tie area.
Winter Camp December 27th- 30th Tues - Friday 10am-2pm
December 11th Blue On December 8th Blue had surgery at OSU for his cracked tooth and sinus infection. He is now home and recovering well. You can stop by and say "Hello" to him, he's in the second stall in the barn. He has stitches and a drain hole in the side of his face. He is oozing fluids out the hole and it smells a little so don't get grossed out. A Day On The Farm On May 7th, 2011 we had a fundraiser for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to help raise the awareness of childhood cancer in memory of Nicky Laplante. So far we have collected over $2,800 dollars in donations! We are all ready making plans for next year. We have something really big in the works for 2012's fundraiser. Horsemanship Class We are having another Horsemanship Class. The next class will be in Oct. We have changed the format of the class so please check out the Horsemanship Class page for more details. Horse Buying Class Our horse Buying Class is scheduled to start the Sunday after the Horsemanship class is over. For new horse owners or prospective first time horse owners we recommend taking the Horsemanship Class first. T Shirts I've been busy designing a couple of t-shirts for the riding school. Please check out the shirts and let me know what you think. T Shirt Page 2011 Play Day Series Make sure you check out the pictures from the Halloween party/Play Day/ Awards banquet. You can find them on our Facebook page. Horse Show Most of the students have been working on two horse show patterns this winter. We will be having the horse show in either Sept. or Oct. depending on weather, play day series dates, horsemanship class dates, and when the students are ready. I'll have a page for this event soon. I'll put the patterns on the page so you can practice at home. Horse Camps Winter Camp Due to the severe hot weather this summer we only had one horse camp. We have scheduled a Winter Camp during Christmas break December 27th- 30th Tuesday - Friday 10am - 2pm. Please check the Camp page for more details. Madeline Update Madeline is no longer a lesson horse. She is permanently retired as a riding horse. She was diagnosed with a brain stem tumor that effects her balance. In September she had an infection in her right eye. It's all cleared up now, but she has lost two thirds of her vision in that eye. She is no longer safe to ride. She will still be part of the riding school. We will use her for teaching saddling and grooming at horse camp. Please stop by her pen and give her some love and maybe a few apple treats, she loves attention. If any students would like to stay an extra half hour after their lesson please ask to groom Madeline. Play Day Series The series will start in April and run through October. Having the series here will give more students the opportunity to compete. Normally we can only take one or two horses to a play day and only four students can compete. Now every one can compete and we'll have four horses to compete on. We'll have an end of the year awards banquet for the series. All the money put into the play day goes right back into the awards at the end of the series. Please check out the play day page for more information. If you need more information don't hesitate to ask. What We Are Planning We have a horsemanship class in March and a Horse Buyers Class in May. The Barrel Racing Clinic Will be in early March so everyone can get ready for the season to start. We don't have an exact date so please check back. We are working on a lesson plan for an intermediate horse camp. This will be a follow up camp for campers that have done the regular camp or if they are students of the riding school. We are also working on an advanced camp for older kids or if they have a horse. Please check out the camp page for more information and updates.
